Winfrey also served as producer for the stage production of the novel. In 1998 Winfrey acted in and also co-produced Beloved, her co-star Thandie Newton said that Oprah practiced a strong technique when it came to her acting and had a sharp mind. In 2008 Harpo Films has signed an elite production pact with HBO.

Oprah has also dabbled in publishing with two magazines, O, The Oprah Magazine and O at Home to her credit. She also owns the Oprah & Friends channel on radio where she does a 30 minute weekly slot with Gayle King.

Rising from the most humble beginnings, Oprah became a millionaire at age 32, and by the time she was 41, Oprah had already replaced Bill Cosby as the only African American on the Forbes 400 list. She has a course called “History 298: Oprah Winfrey, The Tycoon” dedicated to her at the University of Illinois. She is also the world’s only black woman billionaire and also the richest self made woman in America. She has also ranked as the one of the Most Influential People in the world edging over even Elvis Presley and Superman. Oprah is not only talented but her integrity and quiet authority brings to the tabloid talk show format a revolutionary turn. Oprah has always been on confessional mode with her audience endearing herself to them even further.
